Created in the 1970s by employees from the British Aerospace Corporation (which became BAE Systems), the Riyadh Rugby Football Club is one of the founding Rugby clubs in Saudi Arabia. Over the years, the RRFC has grown into a formidable force in Rugby in the Middle East, being a regular participant in the Dubai 7s, the Bahrain 10s and other tournaments in the region including our own tournament, the Riyadh 7s. We also compete in Saudi against the other Saudi clubs, and when possible against regional teams. Our players come from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the USA, Lebanon and most importantly from Saudi Arabia.
The Riyadh Rugby Football Club is proud to have significantly contributed to the recent development in Saudi Rugby, with 11 Riyadh players participating to the first official XV-aside game of Saudi Rugby in May 2016 against Jordan, and regular participation of our players to support the Saudi Select squad in the Gulf Cross Border competition.
The success of any club in the Middle East is down to the players and coaches currently available and Riyadh has had varied successes over the years. The Falcons won the Gulf Mens Plate at the Dubai 7s in 2015 with the Scorpions achieving with a Runner-up spot in the Gulf Vets Plate at the 2015 Dubai 7s, victories in the Bahrain Vets 10s over the last 2 years and high placings in the Doha Vets 10s.
The Club is all inclusive and welcomes players of any nationality and ability. All we ask is that you have the right attitude and willingness to be part of a great team of people who are passionate about Rugby!
